Lost Creek Nature Trail : Wappapello Lake

I was invited to tag along with my brother and his best friend, yesterday. David and Tank have been exploring different trails around Lake Wappapello for the past few weeks. Lost Creek Nature Trail is one that Tank really enjoys. However, when we showed up, there was a controlled burn taking place, and Tank was a little spooked. He made it through just fine.

Hope you enjoy the photos ~ Tim

Tank about to fly away!

While my younger brother is on his NASA vacation in Florida: my mother, stepfather & myself take turns giving Tank the attention he needs. I snapped this photos during one of our walks. Tank is taking a little time letting the wind blow through his floppy ears.

Who’s My Daddy?

This past weekend, my father came to visit me. Living 13hrs apart and only getting to visit 2-3 times a year, every visit is seems to be borderline epic. Usually when he comes to visit we end up golfing and grilling, this time the weather was crap. During his visits I often snap some photos here and there, but wanted to do something a little different this visit. My goal, this visit, was to make a legit portrait that captured the character of my father, Wayne. I accomplished what I set out to do. Although these images are no replacement for meeting him, they capture him better than any photo of him I’ve taken and/or seen. Despite his numerous threats during my childhood to “show me my adoption papers”, I’m fairly certain he’s my father.

Hope you enjoy ~ Tim

This Buds for you!

I had the pleasure of shooting a good friend of mine, Matt Luecke. Matt helps operate Luecke Distributing, here in Poplar Bluff, MO. He was recently featured in February Issue of “573″, a local magazine, “40 Business Leaders Under 40″.

Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce – Annual Banquet.

The past 5 years Matt Luecke, of Luecke Distribution, has been in charge of printing a large backdrop for the Annual Chamber of Commerce Banquet. This year Matt asked if I was interested in assisting him, suggested to the Chamber of Commerce that he and I collaborate on the project. This style of project, combining multiple image into one, is something that I’ve enjoyed doing for a while. So, I accepted the offer. As a photographer, having the opportunity of seeing an image of mine printed 14′x8′ and being the center backdrop for the event was beyond temping.

I shot a baby!

Please save your hate mail. I love children, and I really love babies. However, not yet being a parent, and having no prior experience shooting infants, I had no clue on how to interact with a newborn, to achieve a great portrait. Lucky for me, some close friends of mine who were expecting, asked me a few months ago if I would be interested in shotting their new born, as with most photo projects presented to me, I agreed :D !

I had my first opportunity to shoot the beautiful little boy, when he was 10 days old ! Wow, he was adorable. I quickly learned that he wasn’t a fan of my flash, despited me turning it down to 1/64th power :( . Even though my flash got the little guy upset, I was happy with what I was able to capture.  I have a few ideas of how to make the next shoot more pleasant for the little man. Check back for more baby photos, over the next few weeks.

In the meantime, check out this tiny little boy :D ! ~ Tim Peluso

MHAM – 2010 Photo Contest

I entered a few photos in a contest held by Margaret Harwell Art Museum in Poplar Bluff, MO. Every year at least one of my photos is some form of self portraiture , this year I entered two. Photo manipulation in Photoshop is not my strongest talent, but I’m always pleased with the surrealistic finished product. The other photos that I entered were: Painter Bill & We are Relentless. ”Painter Bill” is a composite of 3 images of a local sign painter. ”We are Relentless” is a team portrait for Relentless Media Productions, a creative media group that I work with.

Please check out my photos  ~Tim

Painter Bill

A little over a week ago, I was fortunate enough to cross paths with a local sign painter, named Bill.Painter Bill is without a doubt one of the most interesting people I have met, in southeastern Missouri.  Bill has worked many jobs in his life, but long before he started working any of those jobs Bill knew he loved to draw.

Since he was a very young boy people have appreciated his talent. Bill told me that his classmates in grade school would ask for his drawings, which he gladly shared. It has been over 70 years since Bill first gave away his first piece of art, and he is constantly producing more. During our 3 days of visiting, Bill showed me 5 pieces that he was currently working on. A portrait of a couple done with pencil & ink, two 3’x 10’ panoramas that he was doing of the downtown area of Poplar Bluff, along with a few rough concepts. Bill told me that he tried to get rich a few times throughout his life, but it just wasn’t in the cards for him.

Although Bill wasn’t financially rich, he had a wealth of knowledge and experience that I could only begin to fathom. The stories of his life made the hours pass like minutes. He has done everything from farming, factory work, to gold leafing. When Painter Bill doesn’t have a brush or a pencil in his hands, he can be found searching for arrow heads in his “Secret” field where he claims to have had many of finds. I am thrilled that I had the opportunity to document Bill and his craft.

Enjoy the Images ~ Tim
